Road Safety Workshops

At St Joseph's we are road aware.

Today, Years 1 - 6 took part in Road Safety Workshops throughout the day.   Years 5 and 6 learnt that you might see everything but your brain doesn't receive all the   information. They looked at pictures 10 seconds apart and had to see whether they could spot the difference. They also had to watch to see how many balls passed and then asked if they noticed anything on the screen that had changed.

Year 4 learnt how to cross safely using safe crossing rather than crossing where they liked. They also learnt about the safety of using seat belts and if you don't use a seat belt, if you have an accident you could be launched from your seat.

Year 3 learnt about in-car safety.  In the UK, to wear an adult seat belt legally you have to be 12 years old, or to have reached a height of 135cmChildren shorter than this should be in a Booster Seat or in a high-backed booster seat. We also demonstrated how important it was that a seat belt is always worn on the shoulder, never under the arm or not at all.

Years 1 and 2 learnt about the green cross code and safe crossing. They had great fun with the puppets and dressing up.
