Thursday 4 May 2023 School Meals Taster Session At St Joseph's we think that it is essential for children to eat a healthy, balanced, freshly cooked meal every day. This helps to keep them alert and focused on their learning. So, today, parents and carers were invited in to school to sample the food that is on offer to the children at lunchtime. They were able to taste a myriad of dishes including macaroni cheese, pizza and pasta. Desserts on offer were a secret chocolate brownie and flapjacks. We are pleased to say it was very well attended and parents and children cleaned us out! One parent commented that the curry was the best she'd ever tasted!

When we were at the station we were able to spray the powerful hose, go inside the truck and they demonstrated how to slide down the pole. We even saw them get ready for a 'shout' and waved the firefighters goodbye and good luck.

Thursday 30 March 2023 Year 2 Culinary Experience For our DT topic, and to round of the spring term, Year 2 designed, prepared and made a couscous salad. First of all, we conducted research, drew our designs and then used the designs to guide us to create the real thing. The children watched Miss Francis make the couscous and while that was ‘cooking’ they chopped and cut the salad safely, using good knife and scissor skills. This culminated in a fantastic, colourful dish that everyone enjoyed eating! More pictures here
