Thursday 9 March 2023 World Book Day 2023 We had a most exceptional WBD today. It really shows how much we all love reading books at St Joseph's.

Thursday 23 February 2023 Following instructions... Today, Year 5 were asked to give Miss Holmes instructions on how to make a jam sandwich. After a few mishaps, we were successful in making a scrumptious sandwich and learned how to give clear, precise directions to avoid any confusion for the person following the instructions.

Tuesday 21 February 2023 Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Day! Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. On Shrove Tuesday, Catholics go to confession and are “shriven” (absolved from their sins).

Thursday 9 February 2023 Hugasaurus at St Joseph's James Allen visited us today to deliver a copy of his book Hugasaurus. He couldn't stay, but Year 2 were very grateful and absolutely loved listening to the story of the most huggiest (but terrifying)T-Rex!

Thursday 19 January 2023 Creating a culture of reading We invited our EYFS and KS1 parents and carers into school for our first 'Read with your children session. It was fantastic to see so many parents excited to be in the children's class with a book in their hand.

Tuesday 13 December 2022 Winners of the House Competition All the house points were tallied up and congratulations to St Bernadette (Green) House for winning the House competition this term. As a reward, they watched a movie and had popcorn, crisps and a drink.

Wednesday 7 December 2022 EYFS & KS1 Christmas Nativity Today parents, carers, family and friends were able to come into school and watch EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 perform the Christmas Nativity: "Lights, Camel, Action!" What an wonderful turn out! All the children were amazing and gave us a show we will always remember. All the preparation and hard work all paid off. Well done EYFS and KS1. You did us all proud!

Tuesday 6 December 2022 Year 4's trip to Dulwich College Today, Year 4 took a trip to Dulwich College to see the James Caird, the lifeboat that Ernest Shackleton used on his rescue mission during his Antarctic Expedition in 1916. With five others, he sailed 800 miles from Elephant Island to South Georgia, leaving the other 22 crew members behind, awaiting rescue.

Friday 2 December 2022 St Joseph's Christmas Tree The Christmas tree has arrived at St Joseph's. Mrs McMahon successfully unravelled the Christmas lights and all children wrote prayers, which they hung on the tree.

Thursday 17 November 2022 Anti-bullying Parent assembly Thank you to our amazing School Parliament children who presented a brief assembly to parents yesterday to inform them about our St. Joseph's values - this month's value is compassion - and to talk about Anti-Bullying week. It was great to see a number of parents there as the children spoke with confidence and enthusiasm. Thank you to all those parents who attended.

Thursday 14 October 2021 Exploring pumpkins This week Reception have been exploring pumpkins. They looked at and felt the inside of the pumpkins describing them as “slimy” and “slippery”. The children used magnifying glasses to look at the seeds and inside more closely.

Monday 6 September 2021 Beegu Invasion! This morning Mrs Keogh came to our classroom to tell us that something mysterious had happened outside school. She told us that she had heard a loud bang come from outside and asked us if we could go an investigate Forest School.
