Year 4's trip to Dulwich College
Today, Year 4 took a trip to Dulwich College to see the James Caird, the lifeboat that Ernest Shackleton used on his rescue mission during his Antarctic Expedition in 1916. With five others, he sailed 800 miles from Elephant Island to South Georgia, leaving the other 22 crew members behind, awaiting rescue.
To see such an amazing, historical artefact in real life was a great experience and the children loved hearing all about Shackleton from our guide. We were also able to go to Dulwich Park for our picnic lunch and a run around! The children were great representatives of St Joseph's and behaved really well on the buses there and back. A couple of members of the public commented on their manners to Mrs Chaggar, and Mr Spalding is very proud of you!
