As part of our ongoing work in maths on understanding part and whole, the children engaged in a fun, practical activity with a strong cross-curricular link to physical education. In this session, the children were each given a set number of beanbags and asked to throw them into a hoop placed on the floor. After each set of throws, they carefully counted and recorded how many beanbags landed inside the hoop and how many landed outside. They then used this information to identify the parts and the whole. This hands-on activity helped to reinforce the concept that parts come together to make a whole.
