Year 5 had a real treat on Wednesday! We were visited by our Head of Governors, Greg Mulligan, who came to say hello, and ended up staying to tell  us the story by Robert Burns of Tam o’Shanter.  It all began when our classroom greeters this week, Shirley and Sola, welcomed Greg to our classroom. He then noticed our English display board and our work on Macbeth. Being a famous story based in Scotland, Greg then shared with us another story from Scotland, and revealed the link it has with Greenwich and the Cutty Sark.  Robert Burns wrote the story of Tam o’Shanter, who is chased by a ghost in a short shirt (a “cutty sark”) and whose horse loses its tail to the ghost. We then viewed pictures of the Cutty Sark online and saw the figurehead which holds a horse’s tail!
