This week in RE, the Year 5 children learnt about The Beatitudes. In Matthew’s Gospel, he collects Jesus’s teaching together in what is called the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew wants his readers to recognise Jesus as the new Moses, calling people to a new way of living. Jesus went up the mountain and sat down and taught the people.

The children in the class discussed and answered questions such as, “Which Beatitude do you like best and why?” and “How does Jesus want us to live?”

This year, Year 5 have been very thoughtful in their RE lessons and always thought about how they can apply Jesus’s teaching to their own lives.
