The children have been writing letters using emotive language this week. Basing our work on The Arrival by Shaun Tan, each child wrote a letter as if they were the father in the story, telling his daughter why he has to leave. In the original story, the father folded his letter into an origami bird. We found one such thing on our English learning wall and opened it to find a letter!

Once they had written and edited their letter, the children read out their work as if they were the father; it all got rather emotional as the children had written very moving letters.
