In English this week, the children took part in a structured class debate, exploring arguments both for and against a chosen topic. Working collaboratively, they first discussed their ideas in small groups, sharing their initial opinions and listening to different viewpoints. They then developed their reasoning by gathering evidence to support their assigned position, thinking carefully about how to justify their arguments.
Once prepared, each group presented their case to the rest of the class, using their evidence to persuade the audience. The activity helped pupils strengthen their speaking and listening skills, deepen their understanding of persuasive language, and practise respectful discussion and critical thinking.
