This week, Year 6 took part in their final swimming lesson of the year, which focused on water safety.  To help them understand the realities of an unexpected fall into water, the children entered the pool wearing clothes and without goggles. They quickly discovered that swimming while clothed felt uncomfortable and heavy, and many commented that they felt colder and found it much more difficult to move through the water.

The pupils then practised the steps they should take in the event of a rescue situation. This was an important learning experience, giving them the knowledge and confidence to respond safely if they were ever to find themselves in a real-life overboard scenario.
